What is it?

You're a netrunner. Dial into the BBS underground, read the boards to pull leads on vulnerable machines, break in (foothold → privesc → pivot → exfil) while a trace meter races you, cash out, and reinvest in better gear and 0-days. Every target, BBS, and exploit is procedurally generated make-believe — nothing here touches a real network.

Quick start

Installer (recommended):

1. Download and run Packet-0.33.0-setup.exe.
2. Windows SmartScreen may warn on an unsigned indie build — click "More info" → "Run anyway".
3. Follow the wizard (it adds a Start Menu / desktop shortcut and an uninstaller), then launch Packet.
4. In-game: type help anytime (it's context-aware), or read the full manual.

Portable .zip: prefer no install? Grab the portable zip, unzip anywhere, and run Packet.exe — just keep it next to its data_Packet_windows_x86_64 folder. Want a console log window? Run Packet.console.exe instead.

macOS (experimental): an unsigned, un-notarized macOS build is available for testing. Unzip it, then because it isn't notarized, Gatekeeper will block it on first launch — right-click the app → Open (or run xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine Packet.app in Terminal), then open it normally. Consider it beta; the Windows build is the tested one.
